The deadline for the Critical Design Review version of the SED is approaching soon. So naturally IRIS is on fire. All the departments are literally on fire. Maybe it was the heater that blew up. We don’t know, as the verification is not done yet.  Thermal calculations are currently underway by the mechanical department with help from the electrical department. But seeing as they were closest to the heating system it is unclear if they are going to survive this week.

One week from the SED deadline

Ingo Wagner

Science Department

Science is currently investigating the origin of the fire. Therefore they are sitting on their satellite trying to make observations using bidirectional reflectional distribution function (BRDF) modelling. In other words they are not helping IRIS making it through the week. The optics department should be able to help them by bringing some light into the dark but their equipment has not arrived yet.

The software team is trying to understand python. Although their expertise currently would be more needed to construct a firewall to contain the fire. *cough*

With these terrible puns, I will show myself out. Our deadline is next week. I need sleep. The emergency weekend meeting at the university can come. (more about that next week I guess...)
